What is the Chromebook?

The Chromebook is Google’s portable computing solution. Powered by the Google Chrome operating system, this sleek and lightweight laptop integrates and runs all your favourite Google apps at blazingly fast speeds. With dual WiFi, it’s even easier to connect to wireless networks, so you can stream, download, send, and share with less interruption. And because everything in the Chromebook is web-based, it’s as easy to use and simple to set up as it’s fast, with an array of automatic features that take the manual labour out of tasks like system updates and file backups. Google “Chromebook” and you may get a search listing for “awesome.”

A New Way of Working

The Google Chromebook is internet-dependent and as such does not come equipped with a typical operating system. Instead, Chrome OS is web-based, which enables it to be faster, simpler, and more secure. Google apps are built right into the Chromebook so you can start doing, playing and sharing right out of the box: connect using Gmail or Google+ Hangouts, access your music and movies from Google Play Music and Google Play Movies or create your own home movies using the YouTube Video Editor. And apps like Google Docs and Offline Gmail help you stay productive even when you’re not connected to a WiFi network.

Clouds Aren’t Just for Looking At

Google Drive doesn’t just help you create documents and spreadsheets; it’s also the Chromebook’s online file storage service. All your data is securely and automatically saved to the cloud so you always have access to your files, and from anywhere in the world. You’ll also never have to worry about losing your documents or media during hardware disruptions because everything is stored in Google’s highly secure web-based data centers. With Google Drive built in to every Chromebook, your files and photos are automatically backed up. It’s the easiest way to keep your files safe and synced too. With Google+ Photos, your snapshots sync automatically, so you can take a photo on your phone and then edit it on your Chromebook. Every new Chromebook comes with 100GB of free Cloud storage for all your most important data.

Super Secure and Speedy

When it comes to the Chromebook, Google is serious about security. This laptop is built on the principle of defense in depth, so you get multiple layers of protection from viruses, malware and other threats. Security is built-in so you don’t have to purchase or install security software separately, and since everything is web-based, there’s nothing for a virus to attach itself to. The Chromebook also stays fresh and first rate, all by itself, updating its system automatically and for free, without your intervention or requiring you to complete manual downloads or upgrades. So you always have the latest and greatest version. The Chromebook is also designed to be ultra fast. It boots up in seconds, resumes instantly and won’t slow down over time.
